3. TRAIN from Luang Prabang to Chiang Mai?

    • Teoretically it is possible, there is a new railway from Luang Prabang to Vientiane (from December 4, 2021). But the train schedule in Laos is still very limited, but there is a new and modern train. This train departs from Luang Prabang train station. This station is about 10 km from Luang Prabang city center, you can buy train tickets from Luang Prabang to Vientiane at the railway station, 3 days before departure of the train. If you want to travel by train you have to travel by train from Luang Prabang to Vientiane, cross the border from Vientiane to Nong Khai in Thailand and in Nong Khai you can travel by train to Bangkok and from Bangkok to Chiang Mai.
