🚆 My experience – night train from Lao Cai to Hanoi

I took the overnight train from Lao Cai to Hanoi after spending a few days in Sapa. The train departed around 21:30 and arrived in Hanoi early in the morning, around 5:30 AM. I booked a soft sleeper in a 4-berth cabin, which was clean and quiet enough for sleeping.

It was a smooth journey and a great way to save time and money on accommodation. I brought snacks and water with me, as there wasn’t much available on board, but it is not necessary, some train offer various fresh snacks or water. The staff at the Lao Cai station were helpful, and boarding was easy even for foreigners.

💡 My tip: Choose a lower bunk if you prefer more space and stability during the ride. Don’t forget earplugs or headphones 🎧 – the train makes occasional stops, and it can be a bit noisy at times.
