An important cultural, political and economic center of China.
-
- Beijing is the capital of the People’s Republic of China. Population of Beijing is about 22 million (2019) and it is the most important transportation hub in this part of China. It is the one of the most visited cities in the world and popular tourist attraction. Beijing, the country’s administrative and cultural center for centuries, houses the famous Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City, a complex of palaces and temples previously ruled by Chinese emperors. We can say, The Great Wall of China is one of the top tourist attraction in Beijing, about 70 km from the city center. Beijing lies on the edge of the loess areas. Not so far away, when it was a gray, dusty city with only small islands of greenery. Along with modernization and preparation for the Olympic Games, the city administration has launched an ambitious „Green City“ program. Thousands of trees, shrubs and flowers have been planted. Today, Beijing is a modern cosmopolitan city with a number of well-maintained monuments, which, however, in the shadow of glass skyscrapers, look somewhat inappropriate. If you want to visit China, you should definitely go to Beijing.
