The second step is the journey by minibus or bus from the city of Ha Tien to the city of Siem Reap, which can take about 11 hours. Please note that this time may not be strictly adhered to, depending on the traffic situation on this route. In this step, you will travel by minibus through the border crossing at Ha Tien – Prek Chak into Cambodia.
So find out what the current visa requirement is when entering Cambodia at this crossing. From the city of Ha Tien, you can use the minibuses of Kampot Tour or Vibol Expres, they will offer you smaller minibuses for a limited number of passengers on this route.
Transport by minibus or bus from Ha Tien to Siem Reap costs around $39/pp and you can find and buy tickets for these minibuses online. Always re-read all transfer conditions and ticket instructions, follow company instructions.

2. FERRY + BUS / TRAIN from Phu Quoc to Siem Reap
Another land transfer option is a trip with ferry + bus + train via Ha Tien, Kep and Phnom Penh. However, this option takes more time because it has a total of 4 steps and you can only use the train on the route from Kep to Phnom Penh. From Phnom Penh you have to continue by bus or minivan to Siem Reap.
After ferrying from Phu Quoc to Ha Tien, you can take a minibus from Ha Tien to the city of Kep in Cambodia. This minibus goes again through the Ha Tien – Prek Chak border crossing and you will go to Kep, as the Royal Railway train to Phnom Penh city departs from there.
Transportation by minibus from the city of Ha Tien to the city of Kep takes about 1.5 hours and you can use the company Kampot Tour, Kampot Transports or Vibol Express. Minibus transport from Ha Tien to Kep in Cambodia costs around $16/pp and you can easily find tickets online ahead of time.
The next step is a transfer by Royal Railway train from the city of Kep to Phnom Penh. The train departs from Kep Railway Station and arrives at Phnom Penh Railway Station, see Cambodia railway map. The train ride to Phnom Penh from Kep takes about 4 hours and tickets cost between $8-9/pp.
However, it’s good to know that this train has a very limited timetable and only 1 connection per day. So you need to plan your trip from Ha Tien, Vietnam well and arrive at the train station in advance. You can search and buy train tickets from Kep to Phnom Penh online in advance. This option is therefore more suitable for those who also want to visit the city of Kep in Cambodia and then can continue with this train to the capital.
The last step is a transfer by bus or minibus from Phnom Penh to Siem Reap, which can take about 5.5-7 hours.
