There are also flights with stopover in Vientiane. However, if you succeed, then from Pakse you can continue by private comfortable minivan south to Don Det. So this transport option has 2 steps and goes through the city of Pakse in southern Laos. Pakse is approximately 120 km north of Don Det.

A) FLIGHT from Siem Reap to Pakse

The first step will be a direct flight from Siem Reap to the city of Pakse in Laos. It is the fastest way to get to Laos from Cambodia, however the flight schedule can be very limited. There are also flights to Vientiane – the capital of Laos and from Vientiane to Pakse, however this option may take more time.

Flights are operated from Siem Reap International Airport (45 km from the city center) to Pakse International Airport, which is 5 km from the city center. So the disadvantage is that the airport is further from the center, you have to take some connection from Siem Reap city to the airport.

The direct flight from Siem Reap to Don Det in Laos takes approximately 1 hour and flights are mainly operated by Lao Airlines. The downside is also the flight price, which is not very suitable for low-cost travelers, a one-way flight from Siem Reap to Pakse can cost an average of $100-150/pp.

The second step is to travel by tourist minivan or minibus from the city of Pakse to Don Det. There is no railway between Pakse and Don Det in Laos, so you have to travel by tourist minibus or other private transfer.
