Booking and buying train tickets (+bus or ferry tickets) in Vietnam can be done through several methods, including online booking (the best and fastest way), at the train stations, and through travel agencies. Keep in mind that train tickets in Vietnam can sell out quickly during peak travel seasons, so it’s advisable to book your tickets in advance, especially for popular routes (eg. Trains by Vietnam Railways are also the most cheapest options of transport in Vietnam.

Soft seats for and sleeper berths at affordable prices.

In trains in Vietnam, we can distinguish mainly tickets for seats, sleeping beds in cabins for 4-6 passengers. For shorter distances, it is ideal to book tickets for soft seats, and for long distances, a sleeper bed is definitely more suitable. Soft seats are also among the most sought-after train travel options among tourists who want to save money while traveling. These options, both seats and beds, can be selected while booking a ticket on the online platforms listed below. The process of finding and booking tickets is very simple, it has several steps and everyone can easily handle it. In addition, you can also search for bus and boat tickets or various domestic and international flights on these platforms.

Traveling by train in Vietnam as an experience.

Traveling by train in Vietnam is also an experience, for example, if you travel from the north to the south of the country, to Ho Chi Minh City or Nha Trang, you will see a piece of authentic Vietnam and the beautiful coast in central and southern Vietnam. For most trains, it is enough to have a ticket in your mobile phone, as an e-ticket, it is not necessary to print it. However, for some tourist luxury sleeper trains, the up-to-date information that you will see before ordering tickets is always valid, somewhere the ticket is required to be printed. Read everything carefully before ordering and after ordering your train ticket to avoid possible complications.

2. Buy Train Tickets at the Railway Station in Vietnam

    • Another option is – go to the train station and buy train tickets at the station. But you must reckon with the fact that most of the staff do not speak English (but not all of them) so there can be various disagreements.
    • It is good to know, the train and bus tickets can be sold out and you need to wait at the station for processing. In my opinion, it is not so comfortable and necessary to use this option. Book and buy train, bus or ferry tickets online.

Automatic ticket gates at the train stations from November 2017.

    • Vietnam to install automatic ticket gates at major train stations. The new facilities wa installed at train stations in Hanoi, Da Nang, and Ho Chi Minh City. At the Hanoi station, there will be six lanes with ten automatic ticket gates to serve passengers, where as the terminal in Da Nang will have two lanes and three gates, and Ho Chi Minh City, three lanes and five gates. In the near future it can change.
    • Passengers can scan their printed or electronic tickets at these automatic ticket gates to enter platforms for boarding their trains (more infos).
